After a steady spell in service during the last autumn in early December the loco was failed after a regular washout exam. A crack was found in one of the main steam pipes between the regulator and the superheater header. Over the closed season sources of new pipe work have been established but given the long lead time temporary repairs have been carried out allowing the loco to re-enter service on Saturday 2 March.
The photo above shows 2857 pulling away from Bewdley North’s up home signal with the 10:25 service from Bridgnorth on the 2 March 2013.
