After another big mileage season in 2014, the locomotive was beginning to show the signs of wear and tear in places. This is not surprising with another 10,500 miles racked up last year.
The rear driving boxes had begun to show a signs of knocking. We are just observing these at present and don’t feel its much to worry about, until we get to the stage of re-metaling. The spark arrestor was also repaired, having shown its own signs of good use. In December 2014, the brick arch was given a temporary repair, and this was rebuilt fully in February. The brakes have had a good amount of TLC, as has the steam heating equipment, the lubricator and the safety valves were attended to as well.
The locomotive was re-entered in to traffic in time for the Spring Steam Gala.
