New Year, New Appeal

Happy New Year from The 2857 Society. Today we are launching our overhaul appeal “Let’s Get 2857 Back On Track”.

Having received quotes from 4 contractors for the bottom end overhaul of the locomotive, the Trustees have now been able to review these and we are working with the Severn Valley Railway to select the most appropriate one. The prices vary slightly, but average out around the £285,000 mark, and include all of the work required to return the mechanical side of locomotive to working order.

In order to secure the funds necessary to overhaul the bottom end, and maintain the financial security of the 2857 Society, we are appealing for £100,000, which we are aiming to raise over the course of the next 5 years. Our target is to return to the locomotive to working order by the turn of the decade (Late 2029/Early 2030), but this can only happen with the finances in place.
