2857 Work at Kidderminster Completed
And that’s a wrap! Work on 2857 at Kiddderminster has reached its conclusion with the removal of the cladding and lagging from the boiler. As per our commitment to the SVR we agreed to have the tubes stripped, blackhead and cab fittings stripped, and the cladding/lagging removed by the end of 2025. This work has been conducted entirely by volunteers, and has been co-ordinated with the SVR/ESMP requirements.
The next step will be an early New Year trip to Bridgnorth for the removal of the boiler from the frames. Once the boiler is out we shall be able to steam clean the ‘bottom end’ ready to send it to the workshops of Riley & Son in April.
