2857 Working Days Continue

This weekend saw us make a proper start on stripping the cab back-head, cleaning and labelling each part as we went. By the end of today’s working sessions we had managed to remove about 75% of the fittings and pipework, and we’ve got a plan to complete the rest in the next couple of weeks.

We also had a gang of cleaners on Saturday, who assisted with giving the bottom end of the locomotive a good clean down in preparation for the visit of the contractor today. They have been able to give us a much more detailed quote for the bottom end overhaul, and not only find one or two bits we’d missed off our spec, but find one or two bits we didn’t really need to be doing. We have another contractor visiting at the end of the month, and then all being well we should be able to select our choice and get a contract signed in the next month or so.
