6 Months until the Overhaul Begins

Following on from the AGM we promised you an update, and here it it.

2857 – The loco remains at Kidderminster, in the KRCW yard. Every 2-3 weeks we are carrying out working parties on the engine getting it ready for a trip to Bridgnorth for its boiler lift. The tasks remaining largely involve cladding removal, injector removal, and final pipework removal. We hope 2857 will move to Bridgnorth in January all being well.

Tender – This continues on hire to the Erlestoke Manor Fund. This arrangement has proven its worth for both sides, and we are pleased to continue helping the EMF with this.

Finance – The Societies finances stand around the £235,000 mark. The quote for the bottom end rolled in at £280,000, so we need to find around £45,000 more to meet the quote. After that we will need to push for a padding ammount, which will provide us with a sum of money to pick from if (When!!) we meet unexpected costs along the way. Once we complete stage 1 of our appeal to raise the £100,000 to meet the quote, we can then move to Stage 2 which is finding that padding cash. Shareholding – We’ve seen a significant rise in shareholding and members this year which is great. Since January we’ve had over 40 new members, and it’s great to have some younger blood involved. Sales Stands – GCR Gala and SVR O Gauge Show sales stands brought in £2000 between them. Website sales continue to come in at a healthy rate, with over £3500 taken in these since we launched the website in October 2024. ‘Wheel-y Good Raffle’ – The raffle has had a really good return to far. It has an income of nearly £12,000 and profit stands around £8,500.
